On Thursday, February 21, 2008 AeroCare closed on and took delivery of a LearJet 55ER. The aircraft is serial number 92 and the tail number is N40DK.
The Lear 55ER is a mid-sized jet with a "stand-up" cabin. The aircraft has a 2,200 mile range and is certified to fly up to 51,000 feet.
This particular LR55ER is equiped with a private lavatory, satellite phone, DVD player, LCD cabin screen, and warming oven allowing for hot meal service.
In addition the aircraft is equipped for worldwide missions. The avionics include TCAS II with change 7 collision avoidance, dual UNS-1 flight management systems, dual HF radios, FM immunity, 8.33 Mhz frequency spacing, and a 4-tube EFIS system.
"This aircraft gives AeroCare true worldwide capability" explains AeroCare CEO Joseph Cece, "and allows us to provide a much more comfortable flight to our patients and crews for the same price as our competitors flying much smaller Lear 35's and Lear 36's".
The air ambulance aircraft will be crewed by 3 highly experienced LearJet Captains and 3 dedicated Co-pilots. The aircraft is expected to enter revenue service by April 1, 2008.
The aircraft will be operated by FAA 135 certificate holder R&M Aviation, a wholly owned subsidiary of AeroCare Medical Transport System, Inc. R&M is currently working with the FAA to modify it's operating authority to a worldwide basis. Worldwide operating is expected to be achieved by June of 2008.
AeroCare will be closing on a Beechcraft King-Air B200 in early March bringing the total fleet to 6 aircraft. The fleet will deployed as follows;
Aurora, IL- Lear 55ER, King-Air C90, King-Air C90A Scottsdale, AZ- Lear 35A, King-Air C90B Indianapolis, IN- King-Air B200
