AeroCare also provides life-saving transports for organ recipients that require vital time-critical transportation from their home or hospital to the transplant center once an organ becomes available.
When the phone rings, we understand that there is a short window of time in which organ recipients are required to get to their hospital/facility in order to receive an organ. AeroCare can prepare for this pre-plan by coordinating insurance coverage ahead of time and when that critical life-saving phone call comes, transport patients seamlessly to meet the time-sensitive demands and provide THE GIFT OF LIFE…
AeroCare's Special Operations Group (SOG)
is a team that specializes in transporting organ procurement teams and organs for transplant. The SOG is made up of experienced professionals and drivers that have extensive EMS experience. The SOG transports organ procurement teams with the use of their fleet of specially equipped Chevrolet Suburbans. These four-wheel-drive SOG vehicles are equipped with flashing lights, sirens, GPS, and WIFI, and have the ability to provide Code-3 driving operations. The vehicles provide a comfortable and safe environment for the organ procurement teams.
Organ Transplant Pre-Plan
The organ transplant “Pre-Plan” service is for patients awaiting organ transplants. The Pre-Plan service will benefit patients who are in need of a fast flight to the organ transplant location that is out of their home state. By preregistering with AeroCare ahead of time the patient’s pertinent information is stored within AeroCare’s patient database.
Because organs can become available at any time and patients are given a small window of time to be at the location of the transplant the pre-plan is a huge time saver for the organ recipient.
Once the call comes into a patient from their doctor that an organ is available, the patient would immediately contact AeroCare and indicate they are enrolled in the pre-plan. At that moment AeroCare activates the patients plan. An AeroCare Learjet air ambulance stands by at the pre-determined airport ready to lift off as soon as the pre-plan patient arrives at the airport. The Learjet flies the patient to the location of the organ. Upon arrival at the organ’s location the patient is driven to the hospital in an emergency vehicle with lights and sirens. The precious time the pre-plan service saves an organ transplant recipient is invaluable.
